Bob Lowey returns to Samye Ling to lead a Qigong course on the “Cane” or “Walking Stick” Form. This traditional practice is an old arrangement of movements that offers a unique way to maintain health through rhythmic, intentional activity. It is characterized by its lively and engaging nature, making it both an enjoyable and effective method for improving fitness through regular practice.

The Practice & Benefits

This Form is particularly well-suited for beginners and those with minimal prior experience in movement arts. The routine focuses on clear, repetitive movements that allow the practitioner to gradually build their skill and energy.

Requirements

To participate in this course, you will need to provide your own walking stick or cane. For the movements to be performed correctly, your stick should meet the following specifications:

  • Height: When standing upright, the stick should reach your waist.

  • Shape: One end should be rounded or have a hook.
