Five Golden Rules
We endeavour to ensure your stay at Samye Ling is comfortable, enjoyable and meaningful. To show respect for ourselves and others and to protect Samye Ling as a sacred space, our Abbot, Choje Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche requests all who visit and stay here to follow these rules:
- To protect life and refrain from killing.
- To respect other’s property and refrain from stealing.
- To speak the truth and refrain from lying.
- To embrace health and refrain from intoxicants.
- To respect others and refrain from harmful sexual activity
GUEST CONDUCT
Strictly No:
Alcohol, smoking, vaping, or illicit drugs.
Protected site:
No fishing or harming of local wildlife. No fires or barbeques. No swimming on site.
No Pets:
Guide dogs only. No animals to be left in vehicles.
No Camping:
Tents, campervans, or overnight stays in cars are not permitted.
Quiet Hours:
Please observe quiet time across the site after 10:00 PM.
Important Notice:
Samye Ling is a working monastic community and not a medical or rehabilitation facility. We do not have the specialized staff to support individuals in active addiction or health crises. Guests must be fully self-sufficient and capable of maintaining their own wellbeing within a quiet, contemplative environment.

Dharma Activity
Booking for Dharma teachings, retreats, and transmissions is managed via the Booking Enquiry form on the specific Dharma Activity Detail page. Use button below to see all upcoming Dharma Activities.
Bookings open a set time before the event (dates are listed in the detail).
Dharma teachings, retreats, and transmissions are offered free of charge, but please note that accommodation and meals are extra and should be requested via the same inquiry form.
Courses & Workshops
For booking your place and accommodation when attending hosted courses and workshops, please use the Booking Enquiry form found on the specific Course Detail page. Use button below to see all upcoming Courses.
Bookings open a set time before the event (dates are listed in the Event detail).
Course fees cover tuition only. If you require accommodation or meals, these are an additional cost and should be requested directly through the course inquiry form.
Personal Retreats
If you are visiting for a private retreat or a quiet break (not attending a scheduled event), you may book online for up to 6 nights.
Use the online booking system to reserve your room and meals instantly. Please do not use this system if you are attending a course or Dharma event.
Please note that specific room availability might be limited, particularly in winter.
Families
We offer limited accommodation suitable for families and small groups, available from April to mid-October.
For more information, please email us with the number of responsible adults and children and your preferred dates of stay to Bookings team.
We are otherwise unable to accommodate guests under the age of 18.

We are pleased to let you know that Samye Ling will not be increasing prices for guest accommodation in 2026. Course fees will also remain unchanged.
We know that many people find it increasingly difficult to cover all their financial commitments. In keeping our prices unchanged we hope Samye Ling will remain accessible for everyone who finds benefit in coming here.
